[Dovecot] When the 1.0 release is planed?
I should imagine as with most Linux projects it will be a 'when its ready' release. Which is good from a stability point of view.

Since when was this a Linux project?
I've never run Dovecot on Linux, and from what I read on this list, many other people don't, either.
Or are you saying "Linux" when you mean "open source"? Like so many people say "the Internet" when they mean "the web"?

Curtis,
You are right, I should really get some sleep before writing mail, got Linux on the brain after spending almost every waking hour sorting minor bugs in our servers. Not just open source either, most non-commercial projects are a 'when its ready' state of affair, allthough the wait can be frustrating the end result is usually worth the wait. I apologise to any computer that felt predjudice by my remark :)
Regards Andrew

I check dovecot for usage on production server (pop3/pop3s and may by imap/imaps). With version 0.99.12 and userdb in mysql I get error when try connect :(. But in 1.0-test56 this work correct.
What part of 1.0-test now not fully tested?

For me, the latest test releases have been pretty stable. But if you're not going to offer imap, you might as well run a simple pop server such as popa3d (http://www.openwall.com/popa3d/). It's quite secure AFAIK -- at least, it's written by Solar Designer and uses a multiple-fork model.
But it probably would help dovecot if you would give the test releases a try, the last bugs (if any) are hardest to find. That way, you would have a stable dovecot sooner.

No. popa3d not support mysql userdb. :(
