[Dovecot] dovecot-smtp connection?
This may be a dumb question, but I'll ask because... :)
I've got dovecot installed and running successfully on OpenBSD 3.9 (this *really* was an easy setup, my hat's off to the developer(s)). And the other employees can now use MS Access to read their mail (they didn't like mutt and pine via SSH - go figger').
So my final challenge is to get things configured so that they can also *send* mail through the same host that dovecot is installed on. I *think* this has to be configured in sendmail, but I'm hoping that someone can confirm that before I start reading.
Thanks, Jay

IMAP is only for reading and organising your email. Not for sending. You need a MTA (such as sendmail, postfix, exim, etc ) to do that.
If you already have sendmail on the box, it shouldn't take much to make it send mail for local suers (if it doesn't already). Otherwise, I would recommend Postfix, not only because it can to SMTP AUTH against Dovecot's auth daemon, but also because you'll find it almost as easy to set up and configure as Dovecot :)
Of course, choosing a MTA package is a holy war all its own.

Try this for OpenBSD. Its easy to configure and is iron-proof :) http://www.pingwales.co.uk/2005/06/03/OpenBSD-mail-server-config.html
