[Dovecot] checkpassword authentication
Hi,
does anyone already use the checkpassword authentication scheme?
I have not found any description how I have to configure dovecot in order to work together with qmails checkpassword.
Enabling passdb = checkpassword /bin/checkpassword in dovecot.conf starts /bin/checkpassword for every authentication request, but the result does not seem to matter for the authentication.
Without enabling a userdb entry, dovecot claims not to be able to find out the uid, gid and home of the user, although checkpassword replies these values.
Setting static values with "userdb = static uid=$fixed_mail_uid gid=$fixed_mail_gid home=/maildata/%d/%n" results in being every login successful, no matter if the checkpassword authentication is ok, or not.
I'm using the latest dovecot nightly build from 22. Nov. 2005.

That looks like you're using 1.0-stable builds. It's broken in them. Use 1.0alphas (or their nightly builds) instead.
I guess I should remove the autocreation of those 1.0-stable tarballs since they aren't anymore being updated..
