[Dovecot] dovecot-auth zombie procs
Hi, every now and then it seems as if dovecot-auth zombie's out. When this happens nobody can log in. If I kill all the dovecot-auth processes and then restart dovecot everything seems to work again. I'm authenticating against an openldap server on a debian sarge box so I wonder if this has anything to do with it. All my clients are using Outlook. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

What Dovecot version? Are there anything in logs? 0.99.12 is broken with LDAP.
Dovecot version 0.99.11....Nothing in the logs that I can see.

How often dovecot-auth restarts? Do you actually see it as a zombie in ps list? Or do you see multiple ones?
If the dovecot-auth process keeps restarting, there must be something in log files about it. In that case it's probably some library incompatibility problem.
If dovecot-auth keeps creating child processes, it's not Dovecot itself which is creating them. Maybe some library, such as LDAP or SASL.

It turns out if I restart slapd every thirty minutes users don't complain. I think it has something to do w/ an older version of openldap in debian sarge.....
