I tried this here and I cannot reproduce this problem. It looks as though your installed dovecot at /usr/local/lib/dovecot is older than 2.2.7. Can you verify? What happens if you point it directly at your compiled Dovecot source tree?

Thank you Stephan. You are right. This was a 2.2.4 Dovecot. Sorry. Upgrading solved this problem.Now on to the configuration.
