Please keep list communications on list.

If your doveconf -n doesn't reflect the changes you are making, then you are editing the wrong file.

As expected.

doveconf -a shows all DEFAULT settings

doveconf -n shows your custom/current settings being used by the running
dovecot system.

What does doveconf -n show?
