[Dovecot] beta8 starts but no POP3 access
Hi
Timo i see you just answered a posting less than 1 hour old! any chance you can comment on mine (29/05/06) repeated below and very urgent i get dovecot beta8 up.
I just compiled stock beta8 on FC3 with
./configure make make install
all looked ok and i changed my dovecot.conf to suit.
start dovecot and i see it running
May 29 08:18:00 Info: Dovecot v1.0.beta8 starting up
POP3 to 1 account and

yy.yy.yy.yy & xx.xx.xx.xx are the ip's just masked out.
OE just immediately say error , what is also worrying is the Corrupted index message even though i am using POP3.
any ideas what to look for. I might add a test box running FC3 and the same .conf works!

I started reading and answering new mails first. There are still a
lot of mails unread :(
POP3(obantec_com): Corrupted index cache file /home/domain/domain17/mail/.imap/INBOX/dovecot.index.cache: indexid

This error doesn't fix itself? What if you delete the dovecot.index*
files from there?

Would be nice to get gdb backtrace from here though, see http:// dovecot.org/bugreport.html

Sorry Timo just getting a lot of flak over the lock file problems and hoping beta8 will fix them.
i have no idea how to do a gdb backtrace. (googling now)
I just did a diff on the config.log files and see the working test server has a later version of gcc
< gcc (GCC) 3.4.2 20041017 (Red Hat 3.4.2-6.fc3) non working dovecot
gcc (GCC) 3.4.3 20050227 (Red Hat 3.4.3-22.fc3) working dovecot
< Reading specs from /usr/lib/gcc/i386-redhat-linux/3.4.2/specs non working dovecot
Reading specs from /usr/lib/gcc/i386-redhat-linux/3.4.3/specs working dovecot
could upgrading gcc help?
