[Dovecot] headers don't match message
the other day i moved all mail functions to a different machine. i copied over my existing maildir's and installed dovecot-stable-20050405.
once i had everything moved and dovecot running i checked my mail via imap. all the messages appeared however when i try to read a message the message body doesn't match the header info that's showed in the message list.
is this an index problem? or did i corrupt my maildir when i moved it over to another host?

What version did you have on the old machine? Did you copy the index files as well?

Probably an index problem. I'd try deleting them. Did you see any errors in the Dovecot logs?
Best Wishes, Chris

I had been running dovecot-stable-20050405 successfully before I moved everything, however prior to this week I had been running 0.99.14. I copied the entire Maildir to the new machine so the indexes should have been there as well

Probably an index problem. I'd try deleting them. Did you see any errors in the Dovecot logs? I deleted *index* in my Maildir and when I checked imap the indexes were rebuilt but the problem is still there

ok i'm dumb. turns out the nightly build of thunderbird i was using was messed up. downgraded to 1.0.2 and everything works fine. sorry for the confusion

I see this a lot using Thunderbird & an old-ish dovecot (test-46 I think). it is triggered by leaving thunderbird connected at work, going home and accessing the same IMAP server from mutt at home. If I use mutt in read-only mode it's fine, but if I delete any messages in mutt, then the work Thunderbird gets very very confused.
I'm not enough of an IMAP monkey to know who to point the finger at here.....
