[Dovecot] dovecot dreate directory instead mailbox
Hi, i've dovecot 1.0b7 with postfix (pop3, real user) and i see a strange thing: if i create a new user and i log in in pop3, dovecot create a directory (and then postfix reject the email with an error); i must send an email and THEN log in pop server...

Sounds like a permissions problem. Have you checked the postfix log?

The directory is created by dovecot if mailbox isn'n present: root@dns:~# creautente.php test testtt Inserito utente test (a small script to create user) root@dns:~# v -d /var/spool/mail/test /usr/bin/ls: /var/spool/mail/test: No such file or directory
root@dns:~# telnet localhost pop3 Trying 127.0.0.1... Connected to localhost. Escape character is '^]'. +OK Dovecot ready. user test +OK pass testtt +OK Logged in. quit +OK Logging out. Connection closed by foreign host. root@dns:~# v -d /var/spool/mail/test drwx------ 3 test users 4096 Sep 18 11:30 /var/spool/mail/test/

Your default_mail_env is most likely wrong. I guess you've pointed it to /var/spool/mail/%u? Change it instead to something like:
default_mail_env = mbox:~/mail:INBOX=/var/spool/mail/%u
