[Dovecot] Messages marked as unread - Dovecot 1.2.10 - Thunderbird 2.0.0.23
Hi! I upgraded some of our systems to dovecot 1.2.10 now I noticed that some of my messages are marked as unread. This disappears after reopening the folder again.
Greetings,
Thorsten

Apparently, this is a known Thunderbird problem as discussed earlier on this list:

No, those only apply to TB 3.0.0 and 3.0.1 (apparently fixed for 3.0.2)...

What was the old version?

But the problem sounds really similar. Maybe Thorsten('s users) also happened to recently upgrade to 3.0?

glad to hear this is fixed

no, it was my own mailbox... we are just doing a friendly user test after the big problems with 1.2.7. and 1.2.9.
i also heard about connection losts with mutt, i'll need to check the loadbalancer config but i'm nearly sure it's the same one we have for the 1.1.6er installations
Hi!
Something new about that?
We also checked the Loadbalancer config depending on the connection losts using mutt, they are exactly the same as the one which works with 1.1.6 fine. So I strongly believe it is a dovecot 1.2.10 problem.

Thorsten
Hi! I downgraded again and found the same result. Seems that this problem occurs after version change after first access the problem seems to be gone.
But there is still the disconnecting problem with mutt.

Are you using mbox or maildir? And you're talking about IMAP, not POP3, right?

Yes I'm talking about IMAP, Mailboxes are in Maildir Format. Connection problems seem to be fixed.
Do you have any idea, why these unread message thing occurres and how to solve this problem?
I'm planning to upgrade again today and continue the friendly user test.
Greetings

I've no idea. No one was complaining about these problems before TB3 was released.. You could look at the IMAP traffic and see if Dovecot actually replies something wrong.

It's just right after the upgrade. After this, the problem seem to disappear. Maybe the users must simple ignore this during upgrade.
So friendly user test will continue now.

I did upgrade too, _lots_ of messages appear as not read (but not all folders). Mark then as read appears to work, but when I get back to folder they are unread again. Many users on my net are complaining about that. We are using Dovecot 1.2.10 with many versions of TB, from 2.0.0.x up to 3.0.1.

I could find just 3.1a1 for download. Can you help me find 3.0.2?
Thanks and best regards.

I was preparing do downgrade dovecot and disabled managesieve on dovecot.conf (which was the reasong for the upgrade). Voilá. Error is gone, same TB 3.0.1 and Dovecot 1.2.10. I 'll have to wait for a solution so I can enable managesieve again.
