And TLS doestn't matter in this case. As long as Evolution has compiled it in and dovecot has compiled it in, then it works. Dovecot of course needs to have it correctly configured with the certificate.

it does not work if dovecot disallow plain and allows only login, at least for me. Evolution 3.16.3 and dovecot 2.2.10 thanks
