OK, that looks broken. It failed but Dovecot somehow failed to remember
what the error message was.

Easiest way to go from here would be to try 1.0-stable or 1.0-test
releases. They shouldn't be losing any errors. Also 1.0-tests have a
nice mail_debug=yes setting which tells exactly why it's looking into
wrong places for the mail.
