Srinivas,

  Does your PHP installation support imaps?  if I'm not mistaken, PHP 
has to be compiled with certain options to allow it to use the imap 
libraries and some of those options determine if it's SSL capable or not.

that's the only other thing I can think of that might cause this problem.
