It'll always stay as a plugin since it's kind of a kludge and not very
useful for most people. I'm not sure if I'll start including plugins in
the main Dovecot tarball and make it easy to compile them either
statically to binaries or as modules. Maybe..

No plans for write-support. It's useful mostly for read-only archive
mboxes.
