[Dovecot] dovecot error: unrecognized event

I'm setting up a new server with dovecot 1.0b7.

Whenever I try to connect with a mua (thunderbird or outlook) I get this
error in the log:

The system is freebsd 6 with maildir in nfs mounted home dirs.

Any ideas on what the problem is?
