What OS is the NFS client? What does "lock status -h" show on the
NetApp? What do you have for "mbox_write_locks" in the dovecot.conf file?

I found I got locking problems, using the imaptest tool, with a Linux
client and mboxes on the NetApp (with "mbox_write_locks=fcntl"), but not
with Solaris 8. Maildirs were fine with the Linux client. I think mboxes
caused problems on the Linux client even with "mbox_write_locks=dotlock
fcntl".
