Why are you people still using so old gcc versions? I guess I could  
accept a patch something like:

#if old gcc version
#  define FLEXIBLE_ARRAY 0
#else
#  define FLEXIBLE_ARRAY
#endif

..
int goodtab[FLEXIBLE_ARRAY];
..
