Don't do this.. It won't work in v1.2 anymore.

user_attrs = quotaDovecot=quota, mailbox=mail=maildir:/export/home/vmail/%$

should have worked, assuming you're using Dovecot v1.1. If you're using
v1.0 then it's still possible but in a different and ugly way.
