This is, it happens at startup.

The kernel is 2.6.30.2 (I put 2.6.30.9 on the non-active server this
morning, but I haven't failed-over to it yet).

Yes, its linux-ha.org heartbeat.  Its debian etch box.  The heartbeat
version is 1.2.5.
