We're using this on NFSv3:

lock_method: fcntl
dotlock_use_excl: yes
fsync_disable: no

I counted and we see between 15-25 of these a day, so I would think that
if dotlocking wasn't working it would be more? Don't know. Shouldn't it
be using fcntl? I read on the wiki it still uses dotlocking occasionally
though, so I guess you use both.
fdatasync(/rci/nqu/rci/u8/user/dovecot/.INBOX/dovecot-uidlist) failed:
Stale NFS file handle

Rarely I also see one or two of these:
fdatasync() failed with index cache file
/rci/nqu/rci/u1/user/dovecot/.INBOX/dovecot.index.cache: Stale NFS file
handle

...but I'm guess the Stale is the same in each case, just a different
symptom.

Just upgraded all the servers to 1.2.10, so I'll patch and report back.
Might as well do it now. ;) I have one user that is good at letting me
know when oddness happens and has had this a few times since they're
logged in from multiple locations for mail.
