Just found this:
capabilities are 'IMAP4rev1 LITERAL+ SASL-IR LOGIN-REFERRALS ID ENABLE
 STARTTLS LOGINDISABLED' meaning you can log in via STARTTLS but not via
plaintext authentication.

Does it have something to do woth your problem?
