this version 1.99 and 2.0 has "run program failed with exit
code" and "running mailtrain backend program", but no "unning mailtrain 
backend program parameter".

If your package maintainer uses this version as base, it looks like, that 
forked program crashes, that is WIFEXITED() returns false.

As it happens with the script, too, it sounds like chroot or SELinux 
problems ;-)
