Couldn't create lock .dovecot-sync.lock

My users are like this "username=domain_name". Could the '=' character 
be the reason?

Despite my settings always worked:
# doveconf auth_username_chars
auth_username_chars = 
abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyzABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ01234567890.-_@=
