That you totally misunderstood my point. 

userdb {
     driver = passwd-file
     args = /etc/dovecot/override.passwd
}

/etc/dovecot/override.passwd

user1:*:::::::mail=~/user1/mail
user2:*:::::::mail=~/user2/mail
