While searching for an explanation for the fact that after updating to
Dovecot 2.3.17_1 (FreeBSD 12.2) I suddenly stopped receiving emails and
following error messages appeared in the dovecot.log,
/Error: lmtp-server: conn unix:uid=125 [1]: rcpt <a class="moz-txt-link-abbreviated moz-txt-link-freetext" href="mailto:user@domain.tld" moz-do-not-send="true">user@domain.tld</a>:

But what exactly does your answer mean for those affected?
That all users who use Dovecot and use the whole thing without
"mail_home" and only with "mail_location", must wait until a BugFix
appears to be able to receive emails again?
Thanks in advance and have a nice advent sunday
Volker
P. S.:
In my case dovecot -n shows
/mail_location = maildir:/var/mail/vhosts/%d/%n//
//mail_home = /var/mail/vhosts/%d/%n
/so mail_home is even set!/

<pre class="moz-quote-pre" wrap="">After looking bit more, this issue is fixed and will be in 2.3.18. If you want, you can try applying
<a class="moz-txt-link-freetext" href="https://github.com/dovecot/core/compare/98f709de%5E..d36d2c59.patch" moz-do-not-send="true">https://github.com/dovecot/core/compare/98f709de%5E..d36d2c59.patch</a>
which should fix this issue.
