[Dovecot] Archiving Dovecot format maildir

Hi!

It seems that the Maildir format used by Dovecot is a standard, right? 
Has anyone written something
to archive mail in Dovecot format maildirs? I have a script that seems 
to be for Cyrus IMAP but
it doesn't seem to work.

I'll write a Perl program if there is nothing available but I am 
concerned about dovecot's index
files - do I need to do anything to get dovecot to rebuild them?
