[Dovecot] IMAP noticeably slower after 1.0-stable -> 1.0.alpha1

Not much else to say...  All LDAP interaction is noticeably slower,
from logging in to moving messages between folders.

Configuration options:

./configure --prefix=/usr --host=i686-pc-linux-gnu --mandir=/usr/share/man 
     --infodir=/usr/share/info --datadir=/usr/share --sysconfdir=/etc 
     --localstatedir=/var/lib --build=i686-pc-linux-gnu --with-ldap 
     --disable-ipv6 --without-pam --with-ssl=openssl --without-vpopmail
     --sysconfdir=/etc/dovecot
