[Dovecot] quota reporting

Hi all,

I'm wondering if theres a way to report the quota, but not enforce it? 
The problem is that i'm using dirsize as the quota method to calculate 
the size of the mail directory, and for very large mailboxes this can 
take time...

what i thought would be good, would be if dovecot could report the quota 
when the user requests it, but doesn't calculate it for every operation 
it performs?

Does any one have any suggestions?

I'm using Dovecot 1.0 beta5

My config:
  mail_plugins = imap_quota quota

The quota for a mailbox is stored in sql, and so the sql query returns a 
"quota" which is picked up by the quota plugin
