[Dovecot] Question - where's the mail?

I am running dovecot and dovecot-lda.  Mail is delivered from my ISP via
cron script using fetchmail.

Over the last few days, there has been a selinux problem which gave
permission denied problems whenever deliver would try to store mail in
Maildir.

I have a big blank spot in my incoming email from about Wed evening
(when the latest FC5 upgrade (..) was installed to a few hours ago when
I recognized that I may have a problem.

Question: What does dovecot deliver do with a message that it cannot
store due to permission problems?
