[Dovecot] Mixed IMAP/POP3 environment: further informations

I see, that's the difference then. Namespaces are currently supported
only with IMAP. POP3 still uses only default_mail_env.

Try setting it to mbox:%H/MBox:INBOX=/var/mail/%u and then pop3 should
find the mails too.
