[Dovecot] locking problems with RHEL 3 and dovecot

The day after I posted this (during my Wednesday downtime window), I
upgraded to b2 (and of course b3 was announced almost immediately
afterwards). However, the locking problems were fixed, and users are
reporting speed increases.
