It looks like you don't like any of the email programs we've discussed.
Which email programs do you like?

BTW: kmail on my system is 4.8.3 -- In more detail:
        $ kmail --version
        Qt: 4.8.2
        KDE Development Platform: 4.8.3 (4.8.3)
        KMail: 4.8.3
