Do you have access to the MTA your users are submitting their mails to? If 
so, you could add the sender as BCC / envelope recipient with a default 
folder to drop off the message, e.g. with sub addressing 
"sender+Sent at sender-domain".

Well, because you need to reconfigure each MUA, you could add the BCC 
there.

That way, the message is transmitted only once and has the message queueid 
in its header for debugging purposes.
