Thanks for the pointers.

I don't think I am mixing Debian with Ubuntu. "lsb_release  -a" shows
"Debian GNU/Linux 6.0.7 (squeeze)"

Our apt sources points to "http://http.us.debian.org/debian/" and after
"apt-get install dovecot", "dovecot --version" showed "1.2.15" (not 1.2.5,
sorry about the typo earlier)
