"who shares to whom" is documented on the page you've linked. That's the 
second part of your post.

The first part deals with ACLs. Documented here: 
https://wiki.dovecot.org/ACL

Here only vfile is documented. Esp. "The ACL code was written to allow 
multiple ACL backends, but currently Dovecot supports only virtual ACL 
files."
