Hi, I think the problem is in Dovecot. I'm using both Evolution and Thunderbird on a Gentoo box. One of my folders keeps locking up and the clients can't retrieve the messages. The situation appears to be triggered by trying to move a message into that folder. Deleting the index files (under /var/log/dovecot/xxx/) solves the problem (temporarily). Hello, I track dovecot m-list, and i wan't migrate to dovecot, but now dovecot has no maildir++ quota in public release(beta etc). Without quota support dovcot not a solution for me. [Dovecot] imap processes remaing after dovecot shutdown

Hello, I'm using dovecot-1.0.beta3. When I shutdown dovecot (kill -term on the master-pid) the main process disappears, but all the child processes still remain. Why doesn't dovecot kill them as I shutdown the master-process? When I shutdown mysql, all child processes will be shutdown, too. When I shutdown apache, all child processes willbe shutdown, too. Thats what I expect on every application. Usually there is no need to shutdown dovecot. But for some reasons, from time to time 50 and more processes of one user are running and I don't know how else to get rid of them. I don't like to kill the child processes always manually. Hi I configured my postfix that i can access the file /etc/sasl2/sasldb2 and authorize the users how are added in this database. My smtpd.conf looks like this: mech_list: PLAIN LOGIN pwcheck_method: auxprop auxprop_plugin: sasldb My saslauthd is not running. And when i telnet to port 25 i can authorize my self like this: telnet localhost 25 Trying 127.0.0.1... Connected to localhost. [Dovecot] file lock on 1.0 stable

Hi I have the lock file back on 2 customer accounts. i am using mbox under /var/spool/mail/%u and of the 300 pop3 accounts i only have the odd random issue with the file locks. some are 1 byte (containing 0) other correct in that they have a pid (average 26 bytes). mbox & lock files owned by userUID.mail Mark

Hi, I can't found any document about this plugin. How can I setup a trash for deleted mail in imap? And remove them after some day like Courier IMAP.

Ok, it worked once, then stopped working. To get away from maybe it being a thunderbird setup issue, I made a little php script. And now I have an error that didn't show up in the dovecot log even though I have auth_debug and auth_verbose set to yes. [Dovecot] postfix 2.3 SMTP AUTH and Outlook

Hi all, I just maked $SUBJECT to run. The main problem was, that in Dovecot are by default enabled only plain digest-md5 and cram-md5 authentication mechanisms. While MS Outlook knows only "LOGIN" mechanism. So, Outlook users wasn't able to use SMTP AUTH. The solution is to change a line in dovecot.conf: mechanisms = plain digest-md5 cram-md5 to: mechanisms = plain digest-md5 cram-md5 login I suggest Timo to change the default configuration, and the page http://wiki.dovecot.org/Authentication -- more precisely the line "LOGIN: Similiar to PLAIN, not very useful. [in 1.0-tests only]" -- I think, that this line is a little confusing. Becouse since one can use Dovecot for SASL authentication, "LOGIN" is starting to be useful (because of the M*S* bullshit).
