Looks like the new mountpoint_get code broke the quota plugin. I am getting this error when trying to start dovecot, using last night's CVS on Red Hat ES3: # service dovecot start Starting Dovecot Imap: Edlopen(/usr/lib/dovecot/imap/lib01_quota_plugin.so) failed: /usr/lib/dovecot/imap/lib01_quota_plugin.so: undefined symbol: mountpoint_get Error: imap dump-capability process returned 22784 [FAILED] Bill

I think the real problem is that quota_default_alloc() is getting called twice. [Dovecot] SASL bind for LDAP

Hi, would it be possible to add support for SASL binds to dovecot's LDAP userdb/passdb? This would be a nice feature as it would allow the use of SASL EXTERNAL binds to a local LDAP server, thereby removing the need for storing clear-text passwords in configuration files. Regards, Geert

[Dovecot] IMAP threading - the THREAD command

Hi folks, there's an extension [1] to IMAP specifying the THREAD command to return list of message sequence numbers grouped to indicate the threading of them. That draft currently defines two algorithms, one of them based solely on Subjects (which is rather dumb) and the second one, combining Subjects with In-Reply-To (etc) headers. The second method is actually advertised and supported by Dovecot. However, I've got quite a lot of friends that lack the knowledge of what the "Subject" field is for, so they just leave it empty. The problem comes when I want Dovecot to return the threads - it follows the ietf draft, so it doesn't check only for references from message headers, but also the subjects. The result is that especially those mails with empty subjects are incorrectly grouped together. So, I'd like to see a feature that would eliminate this problem. It seems to me that there are currently two methods: a) Don't look at the Subject field at all - altough it might increase the speead a bit, it has some disadvantages as well, namely that you'll lose threading if someone uses broken mail client (but broken only in such a way that it preserves subjects) b) Ignore the Subject field if it is empty (after stripping stuff like "re:" etc - just as that draft specifies). Seems reasonable, IMHO. Of course we can't modify the result of a THREAD command (that would break the standard and it generally isn't a proper way to go), so we'd have to introduce another one. I'm pretty sure that especially method a) is very simple (and even simpler if I decided to break the standard by "fixing" the THREAD command), but I really don't like <rant>portable assembler :)</rant> <politely>C</politely>, so are there any chances for this "new and fixed" command to be included into Dovecot? I mean, I might do that in a flawed and ugly way just for me and post a patch so that possible interested persons can pick it, or I migth persuade someone to do it, actually :). Do you think that it's worth the issue? Does anyone have any experiences with talking to the IETF about possible extension of their draft? Ideas? Hi is it possible to have the .imap directory and sub-directory located under the same directory as mbox users. i.e /var/spool/mail/%u is where mbox files are i would like to use /var/spool/maildir/%u/.imap reason being i do not want my users /home/username used for anything otherthan their website. how big do the files under .imap get? What I am seeing is when there are messages that have keywords set, Dovecot occasionally hangs while building the index and/or uidlist. It leaves a lock file "dovecot-uidlist.lock" around and the IMAP process reading that folder never completes successfully. To fix it, I have have to rename the message files to remove the keyword. For example: $ mv 1146246349.P365Q2.mail1b.r1.iad.emailsrvr.com:2,Sa 1146246349.P365Q2.mail1b.r1.iad.emailsrvr.com:2,S I reverted back to the copy of src/lib-index/mail-index-transaction.c from the 4/14/2006 CVS snapshot, and this problem completely went away. And mailboxes that were encountering the .lock problem suddenly worked again. [Dovecot] Unoffical Survey - What MTA/Spam filtering do you use?

I like this unofficial survey of hardware but wondering what MTA and spam filtering everyone is using. I do front end spam filtering for other servers as well. (junkemailfilter.com) I'm using Exim 4.61 SpamAssassin 3.11 Some version of DSpam that I'm experimenting with Most of my spam filtering happens on the Exim level. My mail spam filter server is: AMD 3800 Dual Core Athlon 2 100gb SATA drives 4 gigs ram 64 bit Fedora Core 4 2 backup servers on higher MX recored that are similar configuration.
