I have used the cmusieve plugin for years and I now also enabled the managesieve system. I got the managesieve system working but when I activate the managesieve filter for the user the cmusieve sieve filter is not used anymore. How can I have both sieve systems working, the cmusieve is for a global all user spam filter, and the managesieve is for one user only. I don't want the user to have control over the spam sieve filter, because other systems depend on the location where spam is archived. [Dovecot] system & virtual setup

No one replied to my original email, and I was hoping if I re-phrase my question I can get an answer. I would like dovecot to provide system email (located at /mail/%u with system password and /home/%u) and also virtual email (/u/mail/VIRTUAL/%d/%u with password found at /u/exim/etc/VIRTUAL/%d/passwd). NO home space, but I would consider /home/%d/%u This I think has something to do with namespace, but the docs are too vague for me to understand. Can anyone help me out? I would very much appreciate it. I would even consider PAYING someone to set me straight. I am looking to migrate away from vm-pop3d. initially with POP3 and ultimately into IMAP. Thanks!

[Dovecot] [patch] example configuration for expire seems broken

The expire configuration in the example config file in 1.1.11 is broken: root@omega:/etc/dovecot# /etc/init.d/dovecot restart Restarting IMAP/POP3 mail server: dovecot Unknown dict module: db expire plugin: dict_init() failed Error: imap dump-capability process returned 89 Fatal: Invalid configuration in /etc/dovecot/dovecot.conf failed! It's inconsistent with the documentation at http://wiki.dovecot.org/Plugins/Expire, so I've made the attached patch to try and fix it. Note: I don't know if this new configuration is correct either, because its a new box and I've not got any mails old enough to cause the plugin to try and write anything, but at least I can start dovecot like this. :) Regards, Rob

[Dovecot] verbose_proctitle doesn't work?

How is verbose_proctitle supposed to work? I set it in the config but I don't see anything particularly verbose while the mailbox is connected. [Dovecot] imap locking spool?

How does IMAP lock the /var/spool/mail/user file? Here's my problem: I'm writing a script to expire old or oversize mail through a series of archive folders. I don't want to take the whole server down to do this, nor does it seem like I would have to lock the user out entirely if I can manage to emulate the locks correctly. I am able to lock /var/spool/mail/user (and ~user/mail/*) from procmail, dovecot popmail, and openwebmail using dotlocks. What do I do to prevent dovecot imap from writing the spool and various mbox files while my script is running? Just posix fcntl on the various files? I'm trying to use Mail::Box in perl which I'm having some problems with, corresponding with the developer, but if anyone has any easy way out I would appreciate the advice very much! Mark

Hello, We're having a problem in Dovecot 1.1.8 with a failed assertion on certain mbox format mailboxes. It happens both with deliver when it attempts to delier to the mailbox, and with IMAP connections for the affected box (though I'm not sure what they're doing at the time). Mar 3 12:55:26 <snip> dovecot: Panic: IMAP(<snip>): file istream.c: line 81 (i_stream_read): assertion failed: (_stream->skip != _stream->pos) This is on FreeBSD 6.2, without any nfs. The IMAP client is Squirrel Mail, but as I said, the assertion occurs with deliver as well. Apparently, moving the inbox out of the way fixed the problem for a while, but then it came back. Clearing out the dovecot index files seemed not to have any effect. [Dovecot] deliver to root

Hi, we use dovecot 1.1.11 on a RH Server with sendmail. Local delivery is done with deliver: Mlocal, P=/usr/local/libexec/dovecot/deliver, F=lsDFMAw5:/|@qSPfhn9, S=EnvFromL/HdrFromL, R=EnvToL/HdrToL, T=DNS/RFC822/X-Unix, A=deliver -d $u This setup works without issues for us, but mail to root has a problem with deliver: deliver(root): Mar 04 16:31:31 Error: userdb(root) returned 0 as uid deliver(root): Mar 04 16:31:31 Error: userdb(root) returned 0 as gid deliver(root): Mar 04 16:31:31 Error: User root is missing UID (set mail_uid) Is it generally not possible to use deliver to deliver mail to root?
