Hi, I'm running dovecot 1.2.3 with "imap_client_workarounds = tb-extra-mailbox-sep" and noticed that after deleting a folder (moving to Trash and emptying it on exit) that folder in Trash still keeps subscribed. I think the reason for that behavior is that the call for mailbox_list_set_subscribed() in imap/cmd-subscribe.c (line 84) is fed with the original mailbox name and not the stripped version in verify_name. Assigning verify_name to mailbox in the workaround-conditional fixes this issue for me. I'm not very familiar with C programming but while tracing cmd_subscribe_full() I stumbled upon another thing. In mail_namespace_find_mask() (lib-storage/mail-namespace.c at line 413) mailbox is reassigned with a local string (not t_strduped). I think this might be a problem when mailbox is dereferenced after returning from that function?! .max

[Dovecot] Can't connect to auth server

I'm trying to phase out procmail and move to dovecot-sieve instead. It ain't proving easy. I'll describe my setup: - Centos 5.2 box with dovecot 1.1.4 and dovecot-sieve 1.1.6 from ATrpms. - A single user account is used to store all our email (the account is called maildb). - Getmail is being used to fetch the email from various ISP mailboxes. I want to deliver mail to different folders in maildb's Maildir/ depending on who the email is addressed to (the procmail recipes currently do that). - Getmail destination section looks like this: [destination] type = MDA_external path = /usr/libexec/dovecot/deliver arguments = ("-d", "maildb") allow_root_commands = true - When I run getmail I get this error in dovecot.log: deliver(maildb): May 04 22:15:26 Error: Can't connect to auth server at /var/run/dovecot/auth-master: No such file or directory It's true that I don't have a file called auth-master. I guess I should have but until I started this dovecot-sieve work it was never a problem. I have no idea what that file should look like. As I installed from binary RPMs I would have thought one would have come with the install. Can anyone help? Regards, Phill

[Dovecot] Telnet access creates new maildir folders

Hi, I am running Dovecot Version 1.0.15on a Debian server, with postfix and postfixadmin. My mailbox base is /var/mail/vmail When I send an email to a user1(a)domain.com for the first time, the user "mail" creates a set of dovecot folders under /var/mail/vmail/ user1(a)domain.com/ and my new emails are found in /var/mail/vmail/ user1(a)domain.com/new When I test my server using telnet (telnet domain.com 110), I can log in fine as a user1, but when I type "LIST", it tells me there are no emails. And I realize a new set of dovecot folders were created under /var/mail/vmail/user1/ ! The folders are created by the user "user1". Obviously the folder "new" under that is empty, since my emails received are in /var/mail/vmail/user1(a)domain.com/new and not /var/mail/vmail/user1/new . Therefore, connecting with an email client via POP also shows an empty inbox. I am lost as to what to do to fix this, and how to let the server know that pop access should be looking into /var/mail/vmail/user1(a)domain.com/ instead of /var/mail/vmail/user1/ . Hopefully someone on this list will be able to save me from my misery :) Cheers Sea

[Dovecot] Feature request - statistics for the COMPRESS imap protocol

Unless I have failed to read the manual for the second time in two days (?), it doesn't seem to be possible to get COMPRESS statistics at logout time from the IMAP protocol? Assuming not, then can I make a feature request that this might become available in some future version (pretty please?) Can I also just check that the meaning (as of today) of the "imap logout" statistics "%i/%o", presumably they refer to bytes over the wire, ie they are the compressed data sizes? Thanks - Dovecot 2 adds a fantastic bag of new features! Ed W

[Dovecot] vpopmail disabled services fix

I noticed that disabling services using vpopmail was not being recognized by dovecot. Using "vmoduser -swip user(a)domain.com" should disable all services, but both pop and imap logins were still allowed. After a bit of digging in the code and confirming with a few debug lines, it appears that lines 38 and 52 of src/auth/passdb-vpopmail.c are the issue (dovecot 2.0.8). These two lines do a strcmp on request->service. It appears that request->service is in lower case, but the comparison values are in upper case. Either updating the values to lowercase or using strcasecmp should fix the issue. [Dovecot] Dovecot - AllowGroups option

Hi, I'm trying to control access to different services on an Debian server using /etc/group. So that a user I create for FTP usage doesn't fill up my server with IMAP folders or samba garbage. Services like proftpd have: "AllowGroup ftpgroup" sshd have "AllowGroups sshgroup" And samba have "valid users = @smbgroup" But I can't find the correct option in Dovecot (/etc/dovecot/dovecot.conf) Do anyone have the magic option or a workaround thats doesn't envolve maintaining seperate user databases and password? (I know its needed for samba but besides that) /Neergaard

[Dovecot] IMAP Clients can not see 3rd tier nested IMAP directories

I have a very bizarre problem that I hope someone can help me with. I am not sure if this is a Dovecot problem, or IMAP client problem. I recently used Transend's Migrator to move mail from Exchange 2007 to my Dovecot 1.0.7 server. The program seems to have moved the nested IMAP dirs properly as seen below in a directory listing of the maildir dir. The nested dirs have indexes, cur, new dirs as expected. However, when the account is viewed in Windows Thunderbird 3.1.6 or Outlook 2010 the 3rd tier dirs are not seen, nor can they be subscribed to. On a whim, I decided to try Apple Mail 4.3 to view the account and all the IMAP dirs can be seen and accessed as expected. Any idea what is going on? Is this somehow an IMAP client problem (bug) or an issue with Dovecot and these clients? [Dovecot] namespaces and noselect

Hello, I am trying to use two namespaces to create an "archival" directory that is stored as mboxes (the rest of my tree is all stored as maildirs). However, when I add the second namespace, suddenly Dovecot starts emitting, in response to the LIST command, a second version of the INBOX that is marked as \NoSelect.
