[Dovecot] can not receive external emails

Hi, I am new to Dovecot. Recently I have got a new server running on Ubuntu Server 10.04 with Postfix, Dovecot (for IMAP) and Squirrelmail. During the test, I was able to send & receive emails internally, and can send emails externally. However, I got a problem when it comes to receiving emails externally. The emails I sent from yahoo never arrived to my local inbox. Anyway, I checked the mail.log and found the following dovecot: auth-worker(default): dovecot-auth: /usr/locallib/liblber-2.4.so.2" no version information available (required by dovecot-auth) dovecot: auth-worker(default): dovecot-auth: /usr/locallib/libldap_r-2.4.so.2" no version information available (required by dovecot-auth) dovecot: auth-worker(default): dovecot-auth: /usr/locallib/libldap-r-2.4.so.2" no version information available (required by /usr/lib/libpq.so.5) I was wondering if anyone might be kind to explain the above error messages and how to work around this so that it could send/receive emails coming from external mail server. [Dovecot] IMAP Clients can not see 3rd tier nested IMAP directories

I have a very bizarre problem that I hope someone can help me with. I am not sure if this is a Dovecot problem, or IMAP client problem. I recently used Transend's Migrator to move mail from Exchange 2007 to my Dovecot 1.0.7 server. The program seems to have moved the nested IMAP dirs properly as seen below in a directory listing of the maildir dir. The nested dirs have indexes, cur, new dirs as expected. However, when the account is viewed in Windows Thunderbird 3.1.6 or Outlook 2010 the 3rd tier dirs are not seen, nor can they be subscribed to. On a whim, I decided to try Apple Mail 4.3 to view the account and all the IMAP dirs can be seen and accessed as expected. Any idea what is going on? Is this somehow an IMAP client problem (bug) or an issue with Dovecot and these clients? [Dovecot] Migrate dbox 1.2 virtual mail to 2.0

Hi, I'm trying to migrate from Dovecot 1.2.16 to 2.0.7. Initially the mails were stored in Maildir format but I changed them to dbox using "fast Maildir migration" and some mails are still in the old maildir format. [Dovecot] Pointers for developing a proper encryption plugin?

Hi all, One thing that's always itching when I think about mail-servers, is the storage of e-mail messages in (rather) plain-text. Meaning, any administrator with sufficient privileges would be able to read messages not meant for them. Of course, PGP alike solutions exist, but that's not for the masses. In my opinion I would like to have e-mail messages stored encrypted using a (strong) user-supplied password. That password would ideally be the same as the one the user logs in with. So for me it's okay to place and enforce that requirement on any of the users. Having this in place would for sure reassure external auditors/accountants of any kind. Having Google'd from here to 'yonder and consulting experts on Experts Exhange, I have come up with only this pointer: http://dovecot.markmail.org/search/?q=dovecot+encrypt#query:dovecot%20encry… It mention the same issue, and also mentions the non-existence of a solution (back in May 2010). But, beforing diving into developing solutions myself, I have to be absolutely sure that there isn't any solution yet. And, in consequence of non-existence: what would allow me to fasttrack any development efforts on this? Is there an overview available where I could learn the best approach for plugin development? Hi, Sorry. This is what I find when I try to run Dovecot. # dovecot -F Segmentation fault If I comment out the SSL configuration values, then: # dovecot -F doveconf: Fatal: Error in configuration file /opt/etc/dovecot/dovecot.conf: ssl enabled, but ssl_cert not set These are the configure options, "--enable-maintainer-mode" & "--enable-devel-checks" were added with the hope that dovecot would produce a more verbose error message. ./configure --prefix=/opt --with-ssl=openssl --disable-dependency-tracking --enable-maintainer-mode --enable-devel-checks None of the log files have been touched since before this version of Dovecot was installed (logging was initially part of the configuration).
