[Dovecot] Sieve vacation not working

I've been trying all night to get vacation working in my .dovecot.sieve file. The way our email works is we have one account on dovecot which serves my mail and my wife's and we use procmail and sieve to put the emails in different folders depending on who it's for. I'm trying to set up a vacation reply on my wife's email address (aaaaaaaa@optus* below) so people can update to her new address. I removed .dovecot.lda-dupes and that didn't help; so then I touched it and now it's a 0 byte file and that didn't help. There is no dovecot.sieve.err file and I can't see anything in /var/log/dovecot.log which gives any message about why this wouldn't work. The emails to aaaaaaa@optus* get filed into the right folder so I know the matching is working. I've also tried a reject recipe and that worked fine, so I know that it can send an email if it chooses to. So it's a complete black box mystery as to why it just won't send a reply. Regards, Phill

[Dovecot] Disk Encryption

Hi As I understand it email headers need to be unencrypted (otherwise DKIM doesn't work). From the MUA to either Postfix, or Dovecot the connection is (or can/should be) secured with TLS/SSL. What I would like to know is if it is possible to encrypt the mailstore? Postfix is using Dovecot for delivery so it's only Dovecot that would need to encrypt/decrypt the mailstore. Is this possible? Is there a terrible reason to do it even if it is possible? I realise that from MTA to MTA there's no guarantee of encryption (and in fact it's very unlikely unless keys have been exchanged), but my primary goal is supplement the physical security of the mail store of mails we already have or have sent. Mostly just idle curiosity as to what has been done, or what could be done. What is worth doing is a separate thread entirely. Thanks. Simon

[Dovecot] Issues with VANISHED CHANGEDSINCE

I've been seeing the following wonky behavior with Dovecot. Currently this is with Dovecot 2.0.19, but I was also seeing it in earlier versions as well, including versions from the 1.x series. Some background, this is from Horde's ActiveSync library, when it is trying to determine what UIDs have recently been expunged. I can guarantee that when this command was sent, there was only one or two emails that were removed since the provided MODSEQ value. [Dovecot] Mbox corruption - Inbox beginning with 'FFrom' or 'FrFrom'

Hello, we're having some problems with our dovecot setup. I've seen similar problems in the mailing list some years ago but alas wasn't able to find a solution. Our setup is as follows : An MX farm (postfix) sends mails via LMTP to a director farm (dovecot 2.1.12) which proxies pop3/imap/lmtp traffic to a dovecot farm (dovecot 2.1.16). All mailboxes and indexes are on NFS and all servers are Centos. The problem is that at times we see mailboxes (all of them are in mbox format) beginning with FFrom or FrFrom and of course dovecot says it's not a valid mbox file. If we manually remove the offending extra characters from the beginning of the file everything is working again, but often the same user will show the problem again tomorrow. However it's very rare and so far we haven't been able to reproduce the problem. [Dovecot] Dovecot service not responding after about a week of uptime

Hello, I am running a dovecot 2.1.13 server and lately it stops responding after about a week of uptime. Simply restarting the dovecot service solves the issue. I tried to look a bit in my maillog file but did not find anything obvious. During the time when the server is not responding I can still see imap-login entries from the connection attempt by my email client. Any help about how to diagnose the problem would be appreciated. Timo, would you consider adding support for "IMAP LIST Extension for Special-Use Mailboxes" <http://www.rfc-editor.org/rfc/rfc6154.txt> any time near in the future? I would really love to get rid of all those folders created by all those different mail clients just because they can't agree to use the same folder for special purpose. Obviously clients need to support it too. [Dovecot] Dovecot connection problem - Too many invalid commands (no auth attempts) - v2.0.19

Hello. This might be a silly problem, but I'm a bit a newbie at this, and the internet didn't give me a solution to this yet. I installed a mail server with postfix, dovecot, postfixadmin and a mysql DB for authentification, using this tutorial : <http://www.exratione.com/2012/05/a-mailserver-on-ubuntu-1204-postfix-doveco t-mysql/> http://www.exratione.com/2012/05/a-mailserver-on-ubuntu-1204-postfix-dovecot -mysql/. Except step 4. The complete tutorial worked on a virtual machine, but doesn't work here on a vps from ovh.net. Connecting via telnet localhost 143 works, I can connect. When I try to connect via thunderbird, the domain name is picked up, but gives me a bad login/password combination. Mail.log, mail.err and error don't show anything. [Dovecot] When imapc can't connect to remote IMAP prevents user login (and blocks LDA)

Hi! I'm using dovecot 2.1.12-r1. When remote imap server rejects connections then I can't login into account and MTA can't deliver emails to maildir also. [Dovecot] . (dot) in maildir folder names

Hi. Uhm... yeah as the topic implies I want to have . (dots) in my folder names... Unfortunately dovecot's maildirmake hasn't a -f switch as the one from courier/maildrop, but that one in turn is buggy[0] and doesn't encode any characters at all. In principle, maildir++ should allow[1] having (encoded) dots in folder names,... but I don't quite understand how the encoding actually works, cause UTF-7 seems to be already the encoded (without padding and such)... but . is . in UTF-7 as well. Does dovecot support this? At least my mail clients (well I only tried Evolution so far which sucks in so many areas)... couldn't create it... but I guess it's rather a stupid client issue. Anyone knows how it would be encoded? Interestingly, and this might be actually an inssue in doveocot when I create maildirs with non-ASCII chars without encoding these, e.g. maildir/.München/ (instead of the correctly encoded (.M&APw-nchen) Dovecot seems to "export" these to the clients,... at least Evolution shows it in the list of subscribable folders (even correctly as "München")... but it doesn't allow me to actually subscribe to it.
