Hello, I have the following fatal error when I uncomment #!include auth-sql.conf.ext in .../conf.d/10-auth.conf dovecot: auth: Fatal: Support not compiled in for passdb driver 'sql' I have installed via 'pkg'. Do I have to install the ports tree to get sql support ? Thanks, -Graham-

Dovecot Submission Proxy Auth

Hi, Dovecot 2.3.1 (8e2f634). Could not get Dovecot to forward the (plain) authentication to the SMTP server using submission. Reason why I need it is sender spoofing (do not want my employees to send messages in behalf of me). In exim I can disable sender spoofing with the authenticated user. When sending through dovecot, exim either does not accept the email (need auth) or relay every sender address (because relaying from localhost). Am I missing a setting or do I need any additional field in the (MySQL) user_query/password_query to forward the password? Hello! dsync SSL still doesn't work for replication, so I've disabled it and tried to sync without. But I have a problem with temp directory. Is it possible to change path to temp folder? I don't want to set permissions but change temporary folder for replication. outlook idiocy - IMAP folders with /

user attempts to create folders with / dovecot naturally cannot create it so it returns error but outlook of course "create" it and keep data in local store only. data is lost when you remove local store .pst file. The question is - can dovecot be configured so it will automatically replace slash in name with something else?

Limit IMAP/IMAPS listening IPs

Hello list. I am running dovecot v2.2.13 on debian 8.8; I tried to add a "address =" statement for only localhost and one private IP, but then I got a complaint from system: dovecot[20515]: Error: systemd listens on port 143, but it's not configured in Dovecot. macOS Mojave: setgroups(501) failed: Too many extra groups

Hello, I have recently upgraded to macOS 10.14 (Mojave) and am running into an issue where one use can no longer log into dovecot via imap. Log shows Oct 11 08:10:27 imap(hwr)<12659><YpC/0+133+EAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAB>: Fatal: setgroups(501) failed: Too many extra groups and indeed, the user is in 17 groups, which is more than NGROUPS_MAX (16). Another user with << 16 groups can log in fine. Unfortunately it is not (easily) doable to reduce the number of groups, as macOS seems to set them internally. Is there a config option that I am missing to work around this? Looking at the source, I see this is handled in src/lib/restrict-access.c::fix_groups_list(), where above the call to setgroups() a gid_list2 is constructed. Hi Aki I see what you are saying, and no I don’t believe so. I’m using typical /etc/passwd for the user db. I reviewed https://wiki.dovecot.org/UserDatabase/ExtraFields <https://wiki.dovecot.org/UserDatabase/ExtraFields> but I’m not clear on how to actually return system_user userdb attribute. I also have set mail_user_groups = sharedusers in dovecot.conf and then in /etc/group put all the users with mailboxes into the sharedusers group. I can see why that wouldn’t work if the above is not set. Can you point me in the right direction on how to pass that information? FreeBSD 11.1-RELEASE-p9 amd64 doveconf # 2.3.1 (8e2f634): /usr/local/etc/dovecot/dovecot.conf # Pigeonhole version 0.5.1 (d9bc6dfe) # OS: FreeBSD 11.1-RELEASE-p9 amd64 zfs # Hostname: localhost I can send the entire output if necessary. Error message upon boot up: doveconf: error: t_readlink(/var/run/dovecot/dovecot.conf) failed: readlink() failed: No such file or directory Starting dovecot. Dovecot appears to start correctly There is a link in the "/var/run/dovecot directory for dovecot.conf" lrwx------ 1 root wheel 35B 2018-04-10 10:21:52 EDT dovecot.conf@-> /usr/local/etc/dovecot/dovecot.conf This error message has only started since the update to the latest version of dovecot. I am assuming it is just a harmless error message; however, I would like to confirm that hypothesis. -- Jerry

OCSP Stapling and Certificate Transparency

Hi, For CAs that do not include a signed certificate timestamp in their newly-issued certificates, does Dovecot support either OCSP stapling or the Certificate Transparency TLS extension? If the TLS extension is supported, how does the admin configure the timestamp for each certificate? I’m wondering if any MUAs will follow Google’s lead and insist on CT.
