This has been remedied in 2.3. Unfortunately there is no clean fix to this, they all resort to various levels of trickery. Variables set in passdb/userdb overwrite the ones in plugin {} section. Aki

Dovecot 2.3.0 TLS

All, our dovecot installation provides a bundle of intermedia CA certificates using the ssl_ca option. 2.3.0 does not supply the bundle, resulting in various clients either complaining about an unverifiable server cert, or quietly not connecting. The log has Jan 5 17:01:46 Bounce dovecot: imap-login: Disconnected (no auth attempts in 0 secs): user=<>, rip=XXX, lip=YYY, TLS handshaking: SSL_accept() failed: error:14094416:SSL routines:SSL3_READ_BYTES:sslv3 alert certificate unknown: SSL alert number 46, session=<uKK/kAlia+GCUyU5> We fixed the issue by downgrading to 2.2.33.2. Automatically subscribe to the INBOX folder

Hello, I am using the ‘auto = subscribe’ feature in the mailbox configuration section in the usual fashion (as shown in conf.d/15-mailboxes.conf): namespace inbox { inbox = yes mailbox Drafts { special_use = \Drafts auto = subscribe } ... } When I connect to an account with the Thunderbird mail client, those mailboxes/folders get autocreated and autosubscribed. Good! INBOX, however, does not get subscribed to automatically. When I look at the account’s subscriptions in Thunderbird, all folders are subscribed, except INBOX. How can I enable autosubscribe for the INBOX folder (like the other folders)? Is there an option for this? This is in Dovecot 2.2.22. Cheers, David

Regression ACL & namespace prefix

Hi tl;dr: Seems that for Global ACL directory, namespace prefix is not part of the path, when looking for acl file. Long version: We're planning to update dovecot in next os update to 2.2.36 and while going through regression testing, we found a problem with ACL configuration combined with namespace. Test uses "Global ACL directory" configuration. "" : mailbox_list_get_vname(_backend->list, name); that happened quite time ago during bigger acl changes and I don't know why exactly this line was changed previously. Anyway, reverting this line alone fixes the problem and while testing both per-mailbox ACL vfile and Global ACL file, reverting this did not affect them.

Weird things in the mail queue

I noticed a mail stuck in my mail queue. dovecot-lda was returning error 64 Invalid parameter given. (EX_USAGE). Weird, weird, weird. After some sleuthing, I found the sender address was FirstLast(a)domain.tld, with a UTF8-encoded Unicode U+FEFF ZERO WIDTH NO-BREAK SPACE character (AKA byte order mark) between "First" and "Last" :) Since that is passed as the -f parameter to dovecot-lda, it was giving the 64 error.

index problems after update

Hello List, i have a problem with index-files which is separated in 2 subproblems. May be these problems are connected. Currently we use Ubuntu 18.04 LTS which is bundled with dovecot 2.2.33.2 These servers are fresh installed machines and users are added to the system after, there was no upgrade. Sometimes it happens, that dovecot stops showing new mail. There is no error in log, dovecot just seems to do his normal operations but is not delivering new emails from /var/mail/myuser emails are delivered again if i delete index-files from .imap folder. So index is recreated and everything works again. I cant reproduce this problem, but every 2 days i have one user who is reporting this problem. Second problem is similiar. I Upgraded a server from Ubuntu 16.04 to Ubuntu 18.04. This includes an upgrade from dovecot 2.2.22 to 2.2.33.2. imapsieve: script not triggered

Hi, folks! My problem: I set up dovecot with imapsieve to execute a script whenever a user copies a mail to his Spam folder (spam autolearning). Unfortunately this script is never executed regardless what I’m configuring for imapsieve. It looks like dovecot doesn’t really load the plugin… The "dovecot -n" output is attached. I already tried setting imapsieve_mailbox1_name to *, but even this does not execute the script… Also I tried a mailbox without mail_crypt enabled, no success as well. In the attached mail.log (mail_debug=yes) you can see, that imap_sieve_plugin is loaded, but it isn’t really executed. dovecot/config processes one more time - which are safe to kill?

Hello. The problem with dovecot/config processes never ending and spawning new one on each reload (https://www.dovecot.org/list/dovecot/2016-November/106058.html) is becoming a problem here: # ps aux|grep dovecot/config|wc -l 206 That's a lot of wasted memory - dovecot/config processes ate over 30GB of ram on 64GB box. Before killing dovecot/config processes: # free -m total used free shared buff/cache available Mem: 64437 61656 483 0 2297 after: # free -m total used free shared buff/cache available Mem: 64437 23676 37822 0 2939 Currently on dovecot 2.3.3. I guess it's very low priority to handle that, so: how can I figure out which dovecot/config processes are safe to be killed by external script? Does "all beside 2 newest ones" rule look sane?
