In the given scenario the e-mail contains 3 recipients and is redirected by the director to 3 different mail servers (ox/dovecot @ UCS/univention). In this process the first 2 e-mails are just fine but the third e-mail is truncated somewhere in or after the header. mail_crypt not working on incoming messages?

[Dovecot v2.2.33.2] I'm testing out mail_crypt on a fresh Dovecot install to get a feel for how it works, but I'm running into something unexpected. The mail_crypt plugin does seem to be working, but NOT on incoming email. What I mean is, if I send a test email to the server that has Dovecot installed, the message correctly arrives in the user's Maildir folder (I'm using Maildir format, not mbox), as I can see the mail message file appear. However, the message file is in plaintext and is not encrypted. But, if, using my Thunderbird email client connected to that account via IMAP, I move that message out of the inbox of that account to a folder on another account, and then move it back in to the original inbox, the file that appears in the Maildir folder structure IS encrypted. I have confirmed that mail_crypt is active in 10-mail.conf, 20-imap.conf, and 20-pop3.conf. The global public and private keys are working because (a) there are no errors and (b) it DOES encrypt -- just not on incoming email. mail_crypt_save_version is set 2, as per the docs for Dovecot 2 instruct. What am I missing? Does anyone have any thoughts as to why JUST incoming messages aren't encrypted, but that messages moved into the IMAP account DO get encrypted? Did I set up something incorrectly? I'm using sendmail as the MTA, if that matters, and messages are routed to the user's Maildir folder structure using a .procmailrc in that user's home folder. -Dave

dovecot ssl error message from my own connections

Hello all, Just a minor thing. Not a big deal, because everything works fine, and I feel secure with my setup. But, I get this error message pretty much throughout the day/night, which appears to come from my own mail clients (desktop or mobile). I would like to resolve it, because it must me something (that is not good--that I may not understand), that may have other ramifications. So, here it is. date time myserver dovecot: imap-login: Debug: SSL error: SSL_read() syscall failed: Connection reset by peer Anyone have a suggestion of what this might hint to, other than obvious SSL. I tried parsing through various logs, but the most I find is just this single line. I can produce it, whenever I close my email client. Thanks in advance.

Possible bug with last_login plugin and PostgreSQL

Dear all, I'm trying to get last_login plugin working with PostgreSQL, but seems Dovecot doesn't handle duplicate key while updating last login time (note: same setting works fine with MariaDB). I wonder whether it's a bug of Dovecot or i should handle this with PostgreSQL trigger. Hi. I have a question. Can I limit the maximum number of messages I can sync per mailbox? Even if there are 10000 messages, I want to sync with the specified number of times. Ex)max sync mail count = 5000 (or 1000 or 2000..Outlook view message 5000) Thank you.
