FTS solr or xapian and Public Folders

Hi all I hope someone can help with this. I'm looking at setting up FTS on a Dovecot server which has some quite big pubic folders (100,000+ emails each) and would appreciate some info about how fts both Xapian and Solr works with public folders. As background of the folders can receive emails and I use a dummy user and an alias file to deliver them for example testfolder: dummy+Public/MYTESTFOLDER(a)example.com delivers email addressed to testfolder(a)example.com to MYTESTFOLDER in the namespace Public. Has anyone successfully setup FTS with public folders using either Xapian or Solr and what happens when one user changes a folder, does that change show up for other users? E.G.: When an email is delivered by dummy and indexed will that email be indexed for other users as well? Similarly what happens that when an email is moved between, deleted from or copied to public folders by one user will that change then show up for the other users or not? I guess the basic question is: Are public folders indexed once and then the indexes are made available to each user with access or are they indexed for each user? Any info or experience that anyone has will be appreciated. Many thanks David

macOS ManageSieve client?

I have a dovecot & dovecot-sieve running under MacPorts on my macOS ’server’. I do a very low tech maintenance on sieve, by using the cli on the server and edit sieve by hand for myself. I’d like to open this up to other users. How do people use this from their macOS clients? For this, the ManageSieve protocol exists and this is implemented by dovecot-sieve, but other than installing roundcube and offering a web-based mail client that also supports ManageSieve, is there another way? A ManageSieve client that directly runs on the macOS client and interfaces with dovecot-sieve on the server? After all, routing mail to different mailboxes better happens server-side so that all clients profit. Doveadm backup...

Hi I've recently tried to use the Dovecadm backup to backup the emails.. with the following syntax doveadm -Dv backup -u userx maildir:/mnt/nfs-backup/userx Sounds to be OK with few emails... Private \seen flags lost during message move for other users

Hello, I have a shared mailbox set up with a private index: maildir:/var/mail/public:INDEXPVT=~/Maildir/public Per user \Seen flags are working fine until one user moves a message into another folder/sub-mailbox. For that user doing the move the message remains \Seen however for other users who have already seen the message the flag is lost and it appears unread in the new location. If the message is moved back it still appears unread to the other user even if had been read in that folder/sub-mailbox in the past. Is there anyway to retain per user \Seen that follows the message when its moved? Thank you.

imap_metadata plugin panic

Hello, This may be covered somewhere but recently I enabled the metadata plugin to work with sieve as part of some updates I did a while back and I hadn't checked my logs for any issues with it and so far they're not completely taking my system down. Right now, upon trying to delete a folder I noticed the following in my logs... what am I missing? I see the broken SQL query, but I don't know enough about the dict system or the metadata plugin to know how to add the missing information or fix it otherwise. Issue in 2.3.18 with fts_header_excludes/includes

Hi, I'm still doing some test with fts-flatcurve, after updating to 2.3.18 I enabled: fts_header_excludes = * fts_header_includes = From To Cc Bcc Subject Message-ID but when I try to re-index all messages with FTS flatcurve the fts-flatcurve/ folder inside the Maildir/ become huge. Taking for example a Maildir with cur folder of 1.1G the related fts-flatcurve folder passed from 140M to 2.2G. After remove fts_header_excludes/includes config options, and re-index all messages, the fts-flatcurve/ size return to normal size. Is an issue? General Locking & Replication Issues

Ok I am running two dovecot servers and feel pretty close to getting things resolved config wise there are however 2 or 3 issues that all seem to be related i have enclosed FULL config files for both mail18.scom.ca & mail19.scom.ca I have a private network that is used for the replication (10.221.0.0/24) - port 12345 is blocked by pf firewall from outside. I am running freebsd 12.1 and built one server and then raid copied it to the second (mail19) so all the ports / builds etc are identical I did start with dovecot-2.3.14 but pigeonhole would not build on freebsd (thanks for that advice / reply )until upgrade to dovecot-2.3.18 dovecot-2.3.18 was built and installed on both servers along with a good build (freebsd build error was fixed after upgrading) dovecot-2.3-pigeonhole-0.5.18 please note that the second mailserver (mail19) is on an nfs share dedicated to the server (i am awaiting sdram drives to replace this issue) but since i am getting errors on both servers i feel nfs share is not the issue (and yes i enabled dlock) mail18 is on normal sdram drives (more of an fyi as i dont think this is the issue) neither mail server is connected to the other in any kind of a shared way - other then replication postfix should be delivering via : pipe -n dovecot -t unix flags=DRhu user=vmail:vmail argv=/usr/local/libexec/dovecot/deliver -f ${sender} -d ${recipient} Replication only works properly at startup (ie the mail boxes do sync), afterwhich nothing seems to trigger the differences between the servers to update (notify i believe) manually running : [05:04:46] mail18.scom.ca [root:0] /usr/local/etc/dovecot # doveadm sync -u paul(a)scom.ca remote:10.221.0.19 & [05:21:18] mail19.scom.ca [root:0] /usr/local/etc/dovecot # doveadm sync -u paul(a)scom.ca remote:10.221.0.18 does seem to work but with mixed results. Hi folks, just step into another problem and don't know why?
