[Dovecot] ACL with IMAP proxying

Hello, I'm trying to use ACLs to restrict subscription on public mailboxes, but I went into trouble. My setup is made of two servers, and users are shared between them via a proxy. User authentication is done with LDAP, and credentials aren't shared between the mailservers. Instead, the proxies are using master password. The thing is that when the ACLs are checked, it actually doesn't give the user login, but the master login, which is useless. Is there a way to use the first part of destuser as it is done when fetching info from the userdb? Any help is appreciated, Thansk! [Dovecot] doveadm + dsync merging

doveadm already supports some nice things, such as being able to remotely launch a doveadm command via TCP socket. It also supports executing a command for all users or to some specific users using a wildcard. dsync could use these features, so I merged dsync and doveadm into same binary for v2.1. I'll still install "dsync" symlink pointing to "doveadm", and running that way it should be fully backwards compatible with the old dsync binary and its parameters. I'm mainly now wondering about the command naming for running dsync via doveadm. Any suggestions? a) Use "doveadm dsync" prefix, and otherwise keep the names same: dsync mirror -> doveadm dsync mirror dsync backup -> doveadm dsync backup dsync server -> doveadm dsync server (for running dsync remotely via ssh/etc.) b) Don't have the dsync prefix: dsync mirror -> doveadm mirror dsync backup -> doveadm backup dsync server -> doveadm dsync-server (could be hidden from the doveadm commands list) c) Either a) or b), but rename "mirror" to "sync" or "dsync" or "replicate"? d) Something else?

[Dovecot] Deduplication active - but how good does it perform?

I have deduplication active in my first mdbox: type mailbox, but how do I find out how well the deduplication works? [Dovecot] dovecot-lda error

[Dovecot] POP3 problems

Migrated a 1.0.2 server to 2.0.16 (same old box). IMAP seems working Ok. POP3 give problems with some clients (Outlook 2010 and Thunderbird reported). Hi, I have this: Jan 04 15:55:21 pop3(jfm47): Panic: file mail-index.c: line 257 (mail_index_keyword_lookup_or_create): assertion failed: (*keyword != '\0') Jan 04 15:55:21 master: Error: service(pop3): child 3391 killed with signal 6 (core not dumped - set service pop3 { drop_priv_before_exec=yes }) I don't know why this happened, but wouldn't be the "self healing" (seen in the wiki I think :) kick in here? I mean it's even better to completely remove the index than dying and make the mailbox inaccessible. Thanks,

[Dovecot] Small LOGIN_MAX_INBUF_SIZE for GSSAPI with samba4 (AD)

Hello, I faced the problem with samba (AD) + mutt (gssapi) + dovecot (imap). From dovecot log: Jan 2 17:58:42 server dovecot: imap-login: Disconnected: Input buffer full (no auth attempts): rip=192.167.14.16, lip=192.167.14.16, secured My situation: CentOS 6.2 IMAP: dovecot --version: 2.0.9 (CentOS 6.2) MUA: mutt 1.5.20 (CentOS 6.2) Kerberos: samba4 4.0.0alpha17 as AD PDC $ klist -e Ticket cache: FILE:/tmp/krb5cc_1002_Mmg2Rc Default principal: luf@TEST Valid starting Expires Service principal 01/02/12 15:56:16 01/03/12 01:56:16 krbtgt/TEST@TEST renew until 01/03/12 01:56:16, Etype (skey, tkt): arcfour-hmac, arcfour-hmac 01/02/12 16:33:19 01/03/12 01:56:16 imap/server.test@TEST Etype (skey, tkt): arcfour-hmac, arcfour-hmac I fixed this problem with enlarging LOGIN_MAX_INBUF_SIZE. I also red about wrong lower/uppercase but it's not definitely my problem (I tried all possibilities of lower/uppercas in login). I sniffed the plain communication and the "a0000 AUTHENTICATE GSSAPI" line has around 1873 chars. When I enlarged the LOGIN_MAX_INBUF_SIZE to 2048 the problem disappeared and I'm now able to login to dovecot using gssapi in mutt client. I use also thunderbird (on windows with sspi) and it works ok with LOGIN_MAX_INBUF_SIZE = 1024. Does anybody have any idea why it's so large or how to fix it another way? It's terrible to patch each version of dovecot rpm package. Or is there any possibility to change constant? I have no idea how much this should affect memory usage. Is something along the lines: doveadm move -u sourceuser destinationuser:/inbox search_query possible with 2.0.16? Hi, I have a mailserver(Postfix+MySql) on OpenBSD 4.9 with Dovecot 1.2.16, all works fine. Now i want to do the same but on OpenBSD 5.0. I meet problems using dovecot 2.0.13 on OpenBSD 5.0. Some tests (on the box): telnet 127.0.0.1 110 Trying 127.0.0.1... Connected to 127.0.0.1. Escape character is '^]'. Connection closed by foreign host. telnet 127.0.0.1 143 Trying 127.0.0.1... Connected to 127.0.0.1. Escape character is '^]'. Connection closed by foreign host. Seems that pop3/imap doesn't work 'netstat -anf inet' tcp 0 0 *.993 *.* LISTEN tcp 0 0 *.143 *.* LISTEN tcp 0 0 *.995 *.* LISTEN tcp 0 0 *.110 *.* LISTEN Therefore, ports are open. [Dovecot] error bad file number with compressed mbox files

Hello, can dsync convert from compressed mbox to compressed mdbox format? When I use compressed mbox files, either with gzip or with bzip2, I can read the mails as usual, but I find the following errors in dovecots log file: imap(userxy): Error: nfs_flush_fcntl: fcntl(/home/hrz/userxy/Mail/mymbox.gz, F_RDLCK) failed: Bad file number imap(userxy): Error: nfs_flush_fcntl: fcntl(/home/hrz/userxy/Mail/mymbox.bz2, F_RDLCK) failed: Bad file number These errors also appear when I use dsync to convert the compressed mbox to mdbox format on a second dovecot server: /opt/local/bin/dsync -v -u userxy backup mdbox:/sanpool/mail/home/hrz/userxy/mdbox dsync(userxy): Error: nfs_flush_fcntl: fcntl(/home/hrz/userxy/Mail/mymbox.gz, F_RDLCK) failed: Bad file number But now dovecot does not find the mails in the folder mymbox.gz on the second dovecot server in mdbox format!
