[Dovecot] two mailboxes - sieve?

Hi helpful list! I have this user that has two different accounts om the mail server. One is a system account, the other is a virtual account (for what it is worth...). This user would like to have all his email to the virtual mail box (maildir format) automatically moved (or delivered) to the system mailbox (also maildir fornat). Both are on the same machine and use the same postfix/dovecot installation. Something tells me that I might need the sieve plugin for lda here since dovecot is the local delivery transport. I have no knowledge whatsoever about sieve or its scripting. What do I need to o apart from enabling the sieve plugin in dovecot.conf? Or is there another simple solution for this problem directly in Postfix or with fetchmail? A simple working example would be wonderful! TIA Egbert Jan (NL)

[Dovecot] gnus/dovecot open transactions panic

I have been using dovecot with gnus for a long time. Recently, I started getting failures, and I think it's a dovecot problem triggered by gnus being more aggressive, but I'd like to hear opinions about whether I should pursue this as a gnus bug. The log shows: Oct 25 19:27:36 gdtserver dovecot: IMAP(gdt): Panic: Trying to close mailbox foo.bar with open transactions Oct 25 19:27:36 gdtserver dovecot: dovecot: child 26231 (imap) killed with signal 6 (core not dumped - set mail_drop_priv_before_exec=yes) and this seems to be triggered when dovecot is going GCC: to a local mailbox (not imap) when sending, but also semi-randomly. most of dovecot -n: (I'm sure that I'm not having auth problems and would rather not post that part): # 1.2.14: /usr/pkg/etc/dovecot.conf # OS: NetBSD 5.1_RC1 i386 protocols: imaps login_dir: /var/run/dovecot/login login_executable: /usr/pkg/libexec/dovecot/imap-login login_processes_count: 4 login_max_processes_count: 16 max_mail_processes: 32 first_valid_uid: 128 mail_location: maildir:~/IMAP I have 162 mailboxes polled by gnus on this dovecot instance. I get the panic on various mailboxes and I can't see a pattern. I do get Checking new news... nnimap-send-command: SIGPIPE raised on process *nnimap*; closed it From gnus. I then look at the listed one in the panic, and *imap-log* From gnus. This just may be an artifact of pipelining, but the panic-list mbox has 30 more after it that were sent, as in: 19:35:43 506 EXAMINE "mbox.named-in-panic" (QRESYNC (1208908407 1)) [30 more lines] I'm guessing that this is a dovecot problem. I realize I should update to 1.2.15 :-) but I didn't see anything in the 1.2.15 release notes that looks like a match.

I'm using to make the filter sieve and would like to reject filter and change the subject of emails that filter. I have created the filter and it works correctly, but reject comes with the following subject: "Mail Delivery Subsystem" How I can do?

Tks timo, my plugin is under imap and pop protocol, i will put it in global conf. The syntax for doveadm in socket, is the same as the doveadm app? Ex. Doveadm expurge -u user mailbox inbox savedbefore 3w Than i create a connection to unix socket and write in socket the "expunge -u user mailbox inbox savedbefore 3w" I made a small socket program, doing this but it doesnt work... Dear All, All my users reside in ldap and i am using filter to restrict access to imap and pop service which is working good but as my webmail also uses the imap service, restricting imap will also cause my users to login to webmail. I am looking for a way to bypass the same for a particular ip or loop back ip. Hoping to get answer ... Thanks Regards Piyush Joshi

We're running Dovecot 2.0.2 and sometimes a user creates several imap- prozesses, all of them hanging with the UID-command, using 100% of the CPU resources: root@mail:~# ps ax | grep UID 8005 ? R 243:55 dovecot/imap [user(a)example.com 192.168.5.5 UID] This situation is triggered by two users only. Looks like their mailclient is sending a special command, that triggers the crash. Is it a bug or another problem? Is this a bug already fixed in Dovecot 2.0.3? - Fixed an infinite loop introduced by v2.0.2's message parser changes. [Dovecot] pam authentication error

Hi all, I compiled Dovecot 1.2.16 (on Debian 5/lenny) and followed the quick configuration guide (wiki.dovecot.org/QuickConfiguration) I just need plaintext authentication. After starting Dovecot I get "Last died with error" and in var/log/mail.err: Nov 23 15:06:55 debian dovecot: auth(default): Fatal: Support not compiled in for passdb driver 'pam' Nov 23 15:06:55 debian dovecot: dovecot: Fatal: Auth process died too early - shutting down In /etc/pam.d/dovecot: auth required pam_unix.so account required pam_unix.so In /usr/local/etc/dovecot.conf: passdb pam { args = * } So, what may be wrong with my configuration? [Dovecot] Namespace help

Dear All, I am currently using courier-imap which uses INBOX. namespace configuration now i am willing to use dovecot instead of courier-imap but without INBOX. namespace configuration means default namespace of dovecot which helps me to sort out no of mail client issues as well. I know that i can change the default namespace configuation of dovecot to work with courier-imap namespace but not willing to do that so suggest me something which can help me doing the same. Is it possible using postlogin script or something else ? Thanks Regards Piyush Joshi
