Just a note to myself and whoever else cares, should be added to wiki once it has its own page about this: With single-dbox messages can be copied with hard linking. This means that there can be multiple files that point to the same attachment file. The attachment is now deleted only once the mail file's link count drops to zero, so this works fine.. ..until someone goes and starts manually copying files or maybe restoring from backups or whatever, causing the hard links to be replaced with separate files having link count=1, even when there are other files pointing to the same attachment file. Now deleting this one mail will delete the attachment too early. I can't think of any other reasonable way to handle this though, so unless someon has some great ideas, I think the solution is to simply add enough warnings that message store shouldn't be accessed directly. Maybe add some import/export commands to doveadm which can be used to add a bunch of mails to storage without doing it directly on filesystem.

[Dovecot] gssapi problems (postfix sasl through dovecot, dovecot imap working fine)

Thanks to Timo, I have solved all but one of my problems. For back ground, I am using Samba4 as an AD. I have the userdb working from LDAP just fine and kerberos authenetication for dovecot's IMAP server working fine. The problem is using dovecot's SASL with postfix. I also have plain/login working in imap and smtp. Both use pam_krb5 through pam to authenticate clients that don't have kerberos, and for now smtp. [Dovecot] Imap Logout format

He all, I'm migrating a big system from Courier to Dovecot and we have a custom analyzer logger system to Courier logs. We have got the very similar specs on IMAP LOGIN log, but I can't get the Logout format. Courier write like that: ... imapd: LOGOUT, user=luism.martinez, ip=[::ffff:127.0.0.1], headers=0, body=0, rcvd=131, sent=632, time=0 ¿Is there any Variables on imap_logout_format to get headers, body and time vars?

[Dovecot] disable zlib via config to allow per mailbox compression level

Hello Dovecot v2.0.5 zlib_save_level = 6 # 1..9 zlib_save = gz # or bz2 Is there a config option to disable zlib, even if above config are in place? If so please provide an example. I tried sharing virtual folders (see next mail), and noticed that sharing of subfolders does not seem to work if the "receiving" user has a changed separator (different separator/prefix settings through userdb_namespace attributes). Hello, is there a way to write a logfile during sieve-actions? At least, I have trouble in reading sieve-scripts with tools from kmail ("connection refused) or thunderbird (timed out: server does not answer). There is no problem with the mailbox itself in reading or writing in it. BSDI and Dovecot 2 solved. However some POP3 issues have popped up. 1) Outlook reate e-mail but not on Thunderbird. 2) AVG Proxy interferes with POP3.
