[Dovecot] expire_tool trouble + howto part sasl from 1.1.7 -> 2.0.1?

Hello! Let me smuggle 2 questions in 1 email: 1) I upgraded from 1.1.7 to 2.0.1, but couldn't get it to work, because the 'dovecot + postfix sasl howto' doesn't seem to be updated and the old sasl settings are incompatible with new version. How do I set up sasl with dovecot2 ? Is there any updated howto available? 2) In dovecot 1.1.7: my expire_plugin seems to work fine, new entries are correctly added to the dictionary, but the messages don't actually get expunged. expire_tool says: dovecot --exec-mail ext /usr/lib/dovecot/expire-tool --test Info: maildir: data=~/Maildir Info: maildir++: root=/home/virtual/<domain>/<user>/Maildir, index=, control=, inbox=/home/virtual/<domain>/<user>/Maildir Info: <user>@<domain>/Trash: timestamp 1285005106 (Mon Sep 20 18:51:46 2010 ) -> 1290102903 (Mon Sep 20 18:51:46 2010 ) Info: <user2>@<domain>/Trash: stop, expire time in future: Sat Nov 6 18:33:12 2010 Messages are only updated in the dictionary, but nothing is ever expunged. [Dovecot] MD5 to CRAM-MD5 password conversion?

We have a plethora of accounts for which we would like to enable CRAM-MD5 but their passwords are stored as MD5 hashes. Is there anything we can do? Can we take a linux MD5 hashed password (e.g. $1$fac330ee$wd6Tll...) and convert it to dovecot's CRAM-MD5 format (e.g. {CRAM-MD5}b3f297...)? Thanks!

Timo... Using the src/lib-mail/test-istream-header-filter.c as example, and following your tips to jump my desired header value, but i need to store the value from the Header filtered. In the Exemple, the callback is this: static void filter_callback(struct message_header_line *hdr, bool *matched, void *context ATTR_UNUSED) { if (hdr != NULL && hdr->name_offset == 0) { /* drop first header */ *matched = TRUE; } } What i try to understand is how the structs work, it's save the entire header or every line from header call the callback function ? hdr->name_offset is the size of elements in the struct ? (like a array of message_header_line) The void *context ATTR_UNUSED i can pass what i want to change ? like a pointer to a variable ?

Hi, I've upgraded from 2.0.1 to 2.0.3 and while the former starts, the latter doesn't (the config is the same). [Dovecot] tags disappear in Thunderbird

We have - Dovecot 1.0.15 (the default on Debian Lenny stable) Thunderbird 3.1.4 In our installation the Inbox is a mbox and the other folders are maildir. When we tag messages in Inbox, the tags disappear after a while. In the other folders they stay. I found two possible solutions suggested - 1. Set mbox_lazy_writes=no 2. Convert the Inbox to maildir What would be the best approach in your opinion? Would suggest not following the Debian Lenny stable version (1.0.15), but compiling the current stable Dovecot? Hello - I am trying to migrate my dovecot installation from an older server running version 1.x to the latest 2.0.3 When I run configure --with-vpopmail, it bombs pretty quick as follows: ./configure --with-vpopmail checking for a BSD-compatible install... /usr/bin/install -c checking whether build environment is sane... yes checking for a thread-safe mkdir -p... /bin/mkdir -p checking for gawk... gawk checking whether make sets $(MAKE)... yes checking whether to enable maintainer-specific portions of Makefiles... no configure: error: vpopmail support is broken. fix it or access its db another way. however, vpopmail seems to be working fine, i can add domains from vpopmail/bin/vadddomain and they show up in the database just fine. So why do I receive this error and how can i troubleshoot? thank you very much in advance, Joe
