hello, dovecot2 implements "!include conf.d/*.conf" to build the configuration from multiple configfiles. So the settings for pop3, imap or lmtp may stay in different files. unfortunately the "protocol = " does not allow a += logic to enables or disable inet listeners. [Dovecot] Sieve problem. Timo, is this mbox file size limitation hard coded? If so, why?

I would not have expected this upon implementing sieve. And I really need to get around this limitation. LDA has no problem writing to these large mbox files. Why does sieve have a problem with them? This is very odd. Man this is disappointing. What is the ceiling? It appears to be somewhere between 30MB and 56MB as writes to 1-Postfix-Users are successful but writes to 1-Spam-l fail. [Dovecot] List shared folders

Good morning! I run an imap-only Ubuntu 8.04 mail server with dovecot 1.2 and pam_ldap, so all my users are posix users. No virtual user or domain, no sql so far. I am setting up shared folders with "namespace shared". I got no errors upon restarting the service, but I get no shared folders listing. As per the wiki http://wiki.dovecot.org/SharedMailboxes/Shared I can use a bdb file or sql connection to keep the listing. But when I use a single bdb file like: plugin { acl_shared_dict = file:/var/lib/dovecot/shared-mailboxes.db } everytime a user logs in, this file get its ownership to the user with 0600 mode. I could use an sql dictionary, but since I dont have any sql params on my configs I am not sure where to store connection params like user, password and host for database. Can anybody help me with that? My goal is to allow my users to shared selected folders with other users, hope to be in the right path. Thanks and regards. -- Marcio Merlone

[Dovecot] Setting up ACL for IMAP

Hi guys, I just suscribed cause I'm trying to do something which I'm not sure how. I need to prevent some accounts from deleting there emails. >From what I've seen [0] this could be achieved by using ACL. My first question is, is this right? Is there a way to achieve the same using POP3? I tried setting up ACL using the info at the Wiki [1], but it's not working. [Dovecot] SSL Bug

Hi, After many hours of testing, I've finally tracked down the issue I have been having with dovecot's SSL support. The problem is that the SSL certs result in "TLS handshaking: SSL_accept() syscall failed: Connection reset by peer" errors *if the certificate granted is not granted for client use*. For servers, I normally generate SSL certificates specifically for servers: [ server_ca_extensions ] basicConstraints = CA:false keyUsage = keyEncipherment extendedKeyUsage = 1.3.6.1.5.5.7.3.1 If you just do that, then the SSL certificate doesn't work in dovecot (it will work fine in Apache, or Postfix etc etc). You also need the certificate to be valide for client side work: [ client_and_server_ca_extensions ] basicConstraints = CA:false keyUsage = digitalSignature, keyEncipherment extendedKeyUsage = 1.3.6.1.5.5.7.3.2, 1.3.6.1.5.5.7.3.1 I believe this is a fault with Dovecot. This is with the Debian package for Dovecot 1.2.11 (Version: 1:1.2.11-1). The default self-signed certificate the Debian post-install script generates pops out a certificate that is valid for everything, which is why it works by default out of the box. Matthew

[Dovecot] Plugin to encrypt mailboxes ?

Hello Is there a possibility for my users to encrypt their mailboxes through Dovecot ? They haven't direct access to the server, IMAP & IMAPS only. We use Thunderbird as client and mailboxes are in MBOX format Dovecot is running on a FreeBSD 7.2 server. Thanks a lot

I'm getting this ... May 10 12:45:01 eth0 postfix/local[3416]: A788D685F7: to=< xxxxxxxx(a)xxxxxxxx.net>, relay=local, delay=13, delays=13/0/0/0.03, dsn=4.3.0, status=deferred (temporary failure. Command output: Can't open log file /var/log/dovecot/error.log: Permission denied ) So I'm looking at http://wiki.dovecot.org/LDA to see what I can do about it. I would have hoped some comments in the example config file would have mentioned this and suggested a default practice solution. Is this something few people or many people encounter (among those using dovecot/deliver from Postfix)? If I do as the wiki describes and make separate log files for dovecot/deliver to use, do I just make them owned by Postfix? It would seem to me a different directory might be more helpful (absent log files could be created by having the directory permissions. I'm also thinking in terms of log rotations, too ... and I prefer to do log rotations by date stamping rather than pushing sequence numbers (the legacy log rotation). Any chance there are %-style variables I can use in log file/path names to make log files automatically named by the date (and maybe time) ... kind of like in a shell script I would do: `date +/path/to/tree/%Y/%m/%d.log` or such.
